Some terms:
air dried = dried 3 months (not kiln dried)
rough sawn = rough cut = saw cut is the finish
BF= Board Foot =1" X 12" x 12"

If using cypress, you may use green lumber, because shrinkage is far less than with other species.
Cypress is rot resistant. The grade you want to buy is con-heart
(construction grade, but from the inner section of the tree).
Yellow wood is sap wood and is not very rot resistant.
BOARD FOOT:
 Lumber is sold in this manner Example: 1" thick, 12" wide and 1´ long = 1 board. Ft.
   THICKNESS:
 Rough lumber is measured on the 1/4" system. 4/4=1" - 5/4=1-1/4" - 8/4=2". Most 4/4
 is cut 1-1/8" and will plane to 3/4" or 13/16.

 SURFACING:
Much of the lumber we sell is in the rough cut and air dried.
We will surface one or  two sides for $.12 bd. ft.

 WIDTHS AND LENGTHS:
Some of our lumber comes in random widths and lengths. It usually ranges 4" - 12" wide and 8´ - 12´ long, some available to 21".

 GRADES:
 Select yields 83% or better - used where large clear cuttings are desired.
 Log Run - a random sample of grades just as it comes from the mill.
 1 common yields a minimum of 66% - excellent for most small to medium projects.
 2 common yields 50% - 70% - or better on small projects.
On our Sinker Cypress the older river sunk trees have no sap wood at all.

 Sap Wood and Pecky Cypress is usually sold for paneling and decorative effects.
