Claims of Loyalists from Virginia
The claim of MOSES STEPHEN, late of Cape Charles, Virginia,
for the loss of 90 acres, stock and a house, valued at §1,183. He
had served in the British forces before coming to Britain. Claim
undated (6 pages) (see SR 03138, below, says he is negro).
The claim of JOHN STEPHENS, late of Northampton County, Virginia,
for unspecified losses valued at §12,000. He had now been appointed
Master of Arms on a ship and asked for an allowance of §10. Claim
dated 1 May 1778. He was granted §20, payable in two installments.
